MultiLLDs project aims to enhance inclusivity in education. It merges Educational Linguistics, Language Education, and Language/Literacy Disorders, focusing on multilingual education. The project is designed to equip a wide range of educators, including kindergarten and elementary teachers, foreign language teachers, speech therapists, and special education teachers, with resources to detect language and/or literacy difficulties (LLDs) and distinguish these from language differences. By including such a diverse group of educators, we ensure that no child is left behind. The project seeks to effectively develop strategies for managing such issues, further reinforcing our commitment to inclusive education.
The MultiLLDs project aims to achieve:
- Development of two questionnaires for educators for the detection and differentiation of pre-school (4-6 years) and school-age children (6-9 years) with LLDs from those with language differences in multilingual and multicultural settings
- Development of a handbook addressing good educational practices for bi-/multilingual children aged 4-9 years old, offering teaching materials for language and literacy enhancement targeting those with LLDs (e.g. management of mixed-group classrooms, one-to-one teaching and student self-monitoring).
More information can be found in the project's leaflet.
